I am looking to build an 18x60 evaporator. I am starting off with an old home heater wood stove that my father gave me. They are 19" wide so I am going with a 18" pan. From what I read your firebox should be a third of the pan length. I am planning a 20" firebox. I am going to weld up the back for a ramp and everything. What angle should the ramp be at and how long for the flat part under the pan in back? Also how much space under the pan? I read somewhere that you should have the same area as your stack. If I use an 8" stack that is about 2.5-3" under the pan. That seems like a lot of space.

For the pan I was initially going to try to find an 18" crossflow, but now I think I am going to have one made. I would like a divided flat pan. Am I better off with a single divider like crossflow or 2 dividers?

Thank you.

You will ideally want 2 dividers and 3 sections in the flat front syrup pan 4 would be best but on an 18" pan that is not practical
