Yes, I was having the same problem with mine. They sent me a new temp. probe but the problem continued. I called them about it and they had me ship the control box and temp. probe to them. It's been a week now and I have not heard back from them yet.

I've had mine go off, but only when it should, if the temp rises more than 3.0 degrees over the set temp if I have my flow regulator valve set too far closed. Let us know what it turns out to be.

Also if the probe has been dropped and the sensor inside is broken it might do this. Shake the probe if you here a rattle it might be broken.

Neighbor has been having very erratic probe problems and has not had a response yet, after several calls to Smoky Lake???
He is making syrup with a candy thermometer and a hydrometer. Good learning experience but needs it resolved.
" make sure you are at LCY 0. I had a problem with mine and that was the issue" What is this???

Chris

LCY is is when you are in the mode where you can set your temp offset. It goes from 0 to 6 if you don't set it back to 0 it can make some functions of the draw off not work

Humm maybe that could be it? His was varying by at least 6 degrees or more. I will ask him if he knows about setting this feature?

Regards,
Chrissorry if i wasn't specific enough. WHEN YOU are in LCY MODE there are 6 modes you can be in 0-6. I wasn't referring to temp.

So I went through the setting and shaked the probe and heard nothing loose or broken in the probe and still the alarm is going off and on the probe temp on the monitor shows 3 dash lines assuming the monitor is not syncing with the probe. I figured I'd bail on the draw off unit and do it manually, gives me something to do in between firings.
Just a thought. I bought a SL Great Lakes Guardian this season. The stack temp would start ok but then would read triple digits when evaporator heated up. I found that the two screws for the probe wires were backwards from the factory. In other words, the red screw and silver screw were ba kwards.

Thanks for the clarification.
Neighbor said he has been in communication with Smoky Lake. Not sure of the problem yet.

We have had ours for 3 years now and twice have had the alarm issue. we have sent it back both times and he has fixed it. So far so good this season. not sure what they are fixing but it is something inside the control box.

Your temp probe is bad.
