I posted this before I realized my questions may have been answered in another thread. .... Sorry....As some here already know, I've been having trouble adjusting to my (practically) new 10" press. I've run a 7" press for the past few years and gotten 60 gallons through it pretty regularly until late season. My question is, how much syrup do guys typically get through their 10" presses? It seems to me that a 10" press should handle about twice the syrup as a 7" but I'm fearing that it's just not the case. We have gotten about 85 gallons at best and that's been by keeping the pressure low and bypassing. By doing that, we can pretty much fill the press. Some will say use more DE and that may work although I'm already using way more DE than I ever did before and the more DE you use, the faster it fills up. For example, I always charged my 7" with 2 cups DE in the first 5 gallons then 1 cup every 5 after that. Never an issue. With the 10" I am using 8 cups in the first, 4 cups in the second and a mounded cup thereafter. I'm really thinking I should have kept the 7' and added another one. Any thoughts and experiences welcome........
