The last boil I did just yielded some fairly light syrup, but hazy in clarity, not crystal clear like previous runs. At first I thought perhaps it was some niter or sugar sand, but the syrup remains hazy after being canned for a while. Is it a difference in minerals, etc. as a result of being later in the season. The same cone filters and finishing process was used. The flavor seems good! Any thoughts on the cause?

Filtering system is not as clean as you thought.

I am pretty sure niter can stay suspended in your finished syrup.

I've had the same problem 2 batches ago. I charge my press the same way each time and heat my syrup to just under the boiling point. That batch is cloudy in the sample bottle while all of the others are sparkling clear. I can't explain what's going on.
