Great site! I am a newby to the filter press world ( old school felt bag guy for 40 plus years). I had an old guy give me a web fab 7" press ( 5 filters). The pump is worn out--motor is fine. What is the cheapest outlet to buy one ( a new pump--brass housing etc.)? Direct --not from a maple products co.? About what do they cost? THANKS for any advice. I know nothing about them...

If you want to stick with a brass gear pump, I have this one in one inch on my cream machine. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Bur-Cam-Pumps-700721-.-75-inch-General-Utility/25524011?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1148&adid=22222222228017921499&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=52339412895&wl4=pla-79436695335&wl5=1021832&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=112562587&wl11=online&wl12=25524011&wl13=&veh=semI like the fact that the gears are stainless instead of brass. It does have a brass housing. Here in VT they are trying to phase out brass in maple production. Several on here have gone to an air powered diafram pump. I have this one on my press.

How can these "little" pumps be so expensive? Wow! Options cheaper? Thanks...

Oh can go cheaper but not in food grade at temps we need for a filter press.

"Food grade"? I don't sell the stuff...so what are the cheaper options?

So, am I to assume the cheapest option is to spend $300-$500 to fix/new pump/rebuild my "free" filter press/pump?

Yea that's about right. Even free has a price. That complete filter press would be around $1800 + today.
