So I have my new pans welded up, but the welder put my float box in wrong side. My building has dirt floor and I poured slab for evaporator off to one side, so now float box would be on short side of building. The dividers aren't in yet so I'm wondering if there is a reason every float box I see has float box and sap entering on front side of flue pan (closest to syrup pan). I'm wondering if it's OK to have float box at the back and have 2 dividers?

Mine has float on the back and it is fed to the front of the flue pan with pipe inside the pan.

More dividers wont hurt. There are lots of flat pans that have 2 dividers.

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to use my float and valve from my old pans, and I wouldn't be able to plumb them up to the front of flue pan as there is no threads on float. I'm just wondering if there's any reason the sap can't enter in the rear of my flue pan.

My flue pan is 40" by 7' and has two dividers/three channels. Sap comes in the back of one side and out the front of the other side. No reason this wouldn't work on a smaller pan.

My flu pan is 2 x 4 and has 2 dividers with the sap coming in the back.

My 2x8 has a 6' flue pan with float in back right and connection to syrup pan on front right. To make that work, it has two dividers

It really see it with the hood on. but it's pretty simple. Two dividers run along the long axis parallel with the flues. Sap comes in the rear right and runs forward along that side, crosses over to the center and runs back and crosses to the left side and runs to front. There it exits and flows to the syrup pan. Jim at smoky lake can probably send a photo.

Chad in Esko has a similar pan you could go take a look at. Docsmaplesyrup on here. His is slightly different with only one divider since he has a right side draw on his syrup pan. In his case, float is left front and draw right front.

I thought you were saying the float and the connection to the front pan were on same side of evaporator. I get what you're saying and that is how I'm running mine. Hope to have it done tomorrow.
