Hi all, first post, hoping to get some guidance here. We have a Tuthill Kinney High Vacuum Pump A020 model. It has been pulling 25 inches all season and today just stopped pulling. We checked the oil, the seals, pulled the dome off the oil separator and restarted it with no luck. The electric motor is clearly still working, and we valved it off at the pump and still did not pull any vacuum so we know it's not an issue in the woods. Any suggestions? This is our first season with this pump.

Thanks!

The next step would be to break it open and check the veins

I assume it is a liquid ring with the oil separator on top. if this is it the oil line from the oil separator on top to the radiator has a check valve on it make sure there is nothing in it plugging the oil. If no oil circulates no vacuum.

there is a silver flow control off the oil reclaimer, check that because they get plugged up sometimes. the paint in the reclaimer pealed and plugged it once.

Just like Brian said---I have to clean that restrictor out once a week!

I have a Kinney 10 HP two stage pump with reclaimer. I have lost vacuum a few times in the past but the motor was still running. They call this ( loosing your ring ). Disconnect your vacuum pipe from the pump and pour pump oil into the pump. Reconnect the vacuum pipe and start it up. I hope this will fix the problem.

I have had the flow control plug several times. Have a baggie and a rubber band to stop the flow out of the regulator when you screw the flow valve out of the tank. As you unscrew the valve out, cover the end of the line with the baggie. Clean the holes out with air and reassemble the unit. It will work as soon as oil starts to circulate.
It seams to plug on me when the lines as frozen solid for several days.

I had the same problem others have mentioned with the flow control plugging up. I fixed up and oil filter on it so oil gets filtered before going through the flow control fitting. It has work flawlessly ever since.

It was the flow control valve, took it apart, cleaned it and we were back in business. Thanks everyone!
