Shurflo not taking on water through need valve

I can't get my shurflo to suck up water through my need valve from my tank. When I block off the 3/4 mainline intake, it immediately sucks Sap through the recirculating line. When I reattach the mainline it stops sucking up Sap through the recirculating line.

Any ideas? I have 53 taps on a 2088.

Also, major leaks on shurflo can be harder to find because they don't move lots of air. Look for a big speed up in the sap along a lateral, or a bunch of air bubbles.
