What can we expect from now on in Erie and Crawford PA counties. Will the trees hold up a little longer?

Near Binghamton, NY...I'm still in, just don't know how I'm going to get my sap now with this deep snow. I don't own snowshoes. Too deep to plow my woods road to my buckets. I might shovel a path. About 300 yds from the house to the trees! I collected sap about a week before the storm with my lawn tractor and a little trailer. :-|

Just got back from opening the road to sugar house , was going to do it yesterday but to many things came up . Got to shovel main line to sugar house for ways . Then go check other tanks and lines. Last time I boiled , combined sugar from all was 2.0 , hoping it still there or better . Got full cord & 1/2 of wood still . Yep I'm still in !

Eagle Lake.....we're not doing much better in the western part of the state. Had 1 run for 2 days 2.5 weeks ago! On a side note, was up snowmobiling in your area this winter. I got smacked on the head for going 20 MPH looking at the beautiful maples off of ITS 85 between Eagle Lake and St. Francis. If only they were easier to get to!!

Interesting how much different the weather at the location of our sugarbushes amongst us on the trader. I have yet to boil as the season has not really started yet and some are already finished.

I agree. Always neat to see how different it can be across the country. It's the same with many things...hunting, fishing, gardening. There are some guys who are already out chasing spring gobblers getting bit by mosquitoes...and I've got 3 feet of snow on the ground.

Tapped on Feb 25th and sap is still running fast and clear as of March 18th. There have been a few breaks in the flow here and there but overall a great season so far. Expect 1-2 more weeks of good sap on my north facing slope in SW Wiscinsin. Good times:-).

Here in southern NH it feels like we had 3 different seasons. We get going and then it stops for a week. We have worked hard for our sap this year. Hoping for a nice couple of days. Good luck Lee

Yeah, that's a nice area over there. Much of that land is owned by Irving though.

200 taps went in on 2/20. First 10 gallons finished were all dark as was the second batch. Last 2 years tapped same day and got 4 colors by the end of the season on April 7. Thinking maybe we needed to tap earlier! In a deep freeze right now and under 3-4 feet of snow. Hoping for another run this Friday/Saturday. No buds on the trees yet. STILL IN on the mountaintop!

Boiling sap indoors is so much nicer than outside. First year we were outside with a homemade evaporator and freezing. First thing we did was build that sap house. Then we got a really nice wood fired evaporator and it's so much better.

Getting a pretty good run today after sitting idle for about 10 days. Cold again tomorrow but then looks real promising after that.
