as stated, I am a hobbyist enjoy doing things as simple as I can, and a DIY fan. I have no intention of buying a filter press. That said, how do you kitchen syrup makers squeeze the syrup out of your filter? I had read, do not wring them out, as it will eventually break down the fibers of the filter ,well, that is exactly what I do , they last me a couple years and I throw them away. I use a finish filter, and 4-5 pre-filters in a colander, and when done. I wring them out The filters I bought came in a 3 big sheets, ( I think 3x3,) that I cut down to 12x12, and prolly have enough to last for a few years, I even thought of using a rolling pin, on a big cutting board I have, thanks

A couple times this year I used a large bowl of sap to rinse as much sugar out of the heavy filter as I could, then poured that into my flue pan. Squeeze, don't wring!
