My RO slowed down over the course of the afternoon to the point I decided to do a backwash and changed the filter. Performance is now slightly better, but still slow. So, it's time for a soap wash.

I only have about 150 gal of raw sap left for the day. I'm still getting 8-8.5% on a first pass and the permeate is still sugar free. So it's doing well, just slowly. Will I cause the membrane harm by letting it finish this raw sap at a slower rate then doing the soap wash at the end of the night or at least before the next boil?

Finish what you have then wash. Monitor your pressure and keep it below manufacturer max ( both machine and membrane)

I had the same problem yesterday. I just open the recirculating valve a bit more and dropped for 8 percent to 7 and went to bed. There's not much difference when boiling 7 or 8. Then when I woke up to boil I gave it a good washing. Jeff
