I picked up a pair of Shutz poly totes. Red cap and translucent colored valve bodies. The valves are flapper/butterfly type and do not seal well. It looks like I can pull a retaining pin and spin the valve off of the tank, but before I do this I'd like an idea what thread I'll be dealing with. I wonder if this is a 2" buttress thread? The outlet on my valves is straight pipe if that matters.

My guess would be it is a 2" buttress.

It is a buttress thread on the tank... Not sure where to find replacement parts though.. I'd probably try a water supply company maybe.... We buy distilled water in totes occasionally and I'm guessing they'd keep some spare parts around. or maybe a TSC?

Check out Global industrial supply on the Web, they are out of NY, I bought some 3" Buttress to 2"npt adapters from them, they have some pretty good options.

My Tanks are Shutz brand also. I believe Buttress threads are measured in millimeters, 100 mm is a 3" and 68mm is 2#.?

Parts are available, Global Industrial or Basco USA. I also have 1 valve, also on a Shutz tank with a minor leak. Right off the tank I put a T because it is connected to another tank, then off the business end of that PVC schedule 80 threaded T I converted to 1.5" cam loc female. I just leave a 20' hose connected to it and I put a 1.5" cam loc plug in the other end of the hose. My tanks are on a trailer and do not set filled, I fill them, then haul to the sugarhouse, where they are either run directly thru the RO or are pumped to a sap tank where they are then run thru the RO.

Thanks for the feedback. It does look like the tank itself is a larger size that the outlet of the valve. Years back I had a tote that had a real ball valve on it. This would be ideal so as to keep the liquid I as close as possible to the thermal mass of the liquid. My idea is to drain my outlet fittings when not in use so I don't have freeze concerns.

Looks like this is what I need:
