Could someone please explain the rough order of decline for tapping in the different species of maple.

I know that the silvers go to pot very quickly as opposed to the box elders which are ok to tap much longer.

Thank you much

What I mean is that we know that the silvers like to go to pot quickly, as in first and that box elder can be tapped for quite a while and still be good. But how do the other species rate as far as to how long they stay good to tap and which species go before others most of the time. It would go something like this--- silver go bad first, blacks after that, sugar after that, reds,.....

Do you mean each season or over the life of the tree?

If you are talking which ones generally bud first it would be silvers, reds then blacks and sugars. The difference between blacks and sugars is nominal , as the often hybridize in the " wild".
