I have a double Bernard mechanical releaser that switches sides every 2 seconds continuously non stop without sap flow. Anybody seen this before?

Check your floats to start.

Which parts are moving and which parts aren't? It may straighten itself out when the sap starts flowing again. Does sound strange though.

It is just my opinion, based on my experience with my first 3 Bernard single releasers, but I don't like the Bernard releaser float and trip mechanism. When I went to vacuum 11 years ago, I bought 3 Bernards and they just did not perform well at all. I had all sorts of problems with the floats and trip mechansim. I sold all three Bernards and bought Lapierre single releasers that have worked almost flawlessly all season for 10 years. They have a simple up and down float trip mechanism to dump the sap that is very basic but performs well.

If your releaser is not working properly, you are loosing vacuum transfer to the woods and thereby loosing sap.

Maybe you have some vac hoses switched around on the release cylinder?
