I bottle syrup by hand and at times I have a few foamy bubbles at the top of the container so the foam runs down the side of the bottle when I fill the jug and I have clear the bubbles to see if I have the bottle full enough. Am I doing something wrong or does that sometimes just happen.

Two things: try a piece of cheese cloth fastened over the fill nozzle. Sound to simple try it! Second you need to leave about 1/2 inch of head space in a normal sugarhill type plastic jug. Put the cap on and tip the jug to get hot syrup on the seal.

I just started using a 1/2" ball valve with a 90 degree SS sweep elbow faucet which is about 1/4". Nice steady stream of syrup and no more bubbles. You can get the valve and spout through Leader or Bascoms.
