It's been 2 warm days since I last boiled and due to circumstances beyond my control I haven't been able to boil even briefly.
Is there a positive way to tell if the sweetened pan is still good?
It doesn't smell any different than usual.
I'm going to bring it to a boil today. Tomorrow I expect to finally get some sap again.

If it still smells and tastes good it probably is. Try drawing some off. If it comes out of the draw off stringy it has turned ropey and is no good.

when you bring it to a boil you will know. If it smells musty you lost it. It will be a pronounced must smell, you'll know it is not right. If it's still right liquid form and smells good it's most likely good.

Thank you for the replies.
It draws off watery brown liquid, no stringiness.
Brought it to a boil and it still didn't smell off. Sort of stale steam with a tinge of maple.
Guess I'll have to go with it and see how the syrup tastes.

Sounds like it will be fine.
Keep firing when you have a chance and some sap!:)
