I bought a bulk tank to use as a receiver tank. It has a fitting and a flapper valve that I need to adapt to something more standardized like NPT. I measured it and it's about 2" at the threaded portion and ends in male threads. From what I have seen this may be what people are calling 1.5" bevel? I could ditch the flapper valve, but then I would need to add a ball valve anyhow.

Option 1 is adapt to it

Option 2 is to weld a basic NPT to it.

Suggestions?

It's an acme thread. Look up hambden dairy supply, they have adapters. Or just use a furnco.

Please explain a furnco, have heard alot about them, but have never seen one. If I did....maybe didn't realize what it was.

When I hear Fernco I think of a simple rubber sleeve that uses hose clamps on each end.

When I hear Fernco I think of a simple rubber sleeve that uses hose clamps on each end. Does this get clamped over the bulk tank threads? or behind them? If it freezes up solid, what is stopping it from pushing these off?

For me the Fernco is not a consideration. I need rigid and secure. Yes a fernco could just pull off I suppose.

I just ordered bulk tank adapters for my tanks. Got mine from Gorter Clay and Dairy, but Hamby will have them as well. They are a rigid plastic pipe that fits through the bulk tank nut. They give you a pipe to grab onto and go from there. The nut is less than $8 but the adapters are $22 ea.
