Would an automotive vacuum tester work to measure vacuum at the end of a 3/16" line? It's intended use is to check fuel pumps.. hopefully the pic will load.1571215712

any vac gauge will work, i just buy $7 dollar gauges and put one on each line. make sure to seal it up if you remove it from the system

This is the correct way. With pumped vacuum, you can take a single automotive vacuum checker and just go from line to line and plug it in. With 3/16" natural vacuum, if you unplug the line to check vacuum, the sap runs out of the line quickly due to the venting, and your vacuum level will drop off quickly. Gauges should be plumbed into 3/16" systems (or 5/16" systems), OR you should have a valve where you can plug in the gauge, then open the valve without bleeding in (much) air into the system.

Try F.W. Webb for gauges. It's a plumbing supply store here in the northeast. I got mine there for a fairly reasonable price. The do have online sales but not sure on shipping costs. I was lucky enough to have a store twenty minutes from home. The store locally carries cdl equipment for syrup makers.
