I see that a lot of the maple trees are budding out . Is the season over?
Can we get good sap from these trees ?

I learned last year that you can get good sap all the way up until you get bad sap and you can't tell when that will be by looking at the buds but it will be later than you think. If you have reds on buckets, bags, or drop tubes, they will likely quit running before the sap turns buddy.

What I’m seeing here in the Lansing area is the Silvers starting to flower. Little to worry about.
The sugars are still pretty tight.

I haven’t even tapped yet, will be doing so tomorrow.

We may be in for a shorter than normal season if we get another warm spell in March, but the trend for the next couple of weeks looks favorable. That should slow or halt bud development.

The season is what it is, let it ride.

Sorry, double post.
Not sure how that happened.
