When I poured my full bucket of sap into the storage tank it was really foamy... I just want to make sure this is normal and that it doesn't mean I didn't rinse my bucket enough after cleaning it (it's not soap is it?!)
newbie here.... obviously.

Also, don't clean your buckets with soap. No matter how much you rinse there will be some residue.
A bleach and water mix works fine and leaves no residue.

I'm a novice as well - can you provide a recipe or formula for the bleach and water mix that should be used? Would it be the same solution for cleaning taps, lines, and boiling pans? Would it be safe to dump into a septic system? Thanks.

I use 1 cup bleach --> 1 gallon of water ratio. I do use it to clean my droplines but for my pan I use the vinegar/water/boil technique. I would say bleach is ok in the septic as that's where your washing machine dumps into.
Don't dump it on the grass, though.

DO NOT USE SOAP EVER ANYWHERE WITH ANYTHING THAT CONTACTS SAP OR SYRUP I use hottest water or SAP I can get. All through the season. Only use bleach at the end to clean taps and pales. After that rinse 4 to 5 times. The SAP will foam up naturally. When theirs rainbows in the bubbles you've most likely got soap bubbles.
