Governor Chris Sununu to Kick Off NH Maple Sugaring Season
Maple Ridge Sugar House Hosts the Annual Gubernatorial Maple Tree Tapping

The New Hampshire Maple Producers Association (NHMPA) welcomes the public to
this year’s ceremonial tree-tapping event with Governor Chris Sununu on February 28, 2017 at
1pm at the Maple Ridge Sugar House, located at 268 Loudon Road Ridge Road in Loudon, NH.
All of the maple products produced at Maple Ridge Sugar House are made locally at the farm.
Miranda Milano, representing one of the three generations that owns and operates Maple Ridge
Sugar House, is both thrilled and honored to host this year’s event. In addition to the
tree-tapping ceremony, tours will be available, including extended tours of the sugar bush. For
extended tours, Miranda says “we always recommend to bring boots since it can be a little
messy and muddy in the woods.”
Maple sugaring time in New Hampshire occurs from February through April. During those few
weeks each year, New Hampshire sugar houses produce close to 150,000 gallons. The
long-standing tradition of having the governor tap the first tree was started by Governor Melvin
Thompson almost 50 years ago.
