All tapped in and boiled the last 2 days. Have about 40 more taps this year and giving the 2x3 a good workout. I retired this past summer so I have lots of time to make steam. Sap has been between 2 1/2 and 3%. Installed some 3/16 line without a big drop and so far it is impressing me. Will be boiling at least the next 2 days before the warm up and that's a good start especially with an overnight run thrown in there.

Good luck Paul

How much drop or lack there of do you have with your 3/16s?

Only have 2-3 ft after the last tap. Have about 10 ft overall. Not much but they are pulling 2-3 inches of vacuum and running better than 5/16 lines with more taps.

What a screwy year. My taps ran for days after no freeze and "hot" weather. Gathered when 65 degrees outside but couldn't use it because of evaporator problem. Went to dump it today and it was crystal clear but I was afraid to use it after it sitting for days. Now after a good 2 day freeze and mid 40s weather today they decide they just want to drip little. Now it looks like no freeze tonight, what gives?

Same here. Completely frustrating year for me both mechanically and weather wise. I am happy to get whatever I can at this point because it looks like the season is ending soon.

Boiled Tuesday and again today. No freeze since Saturday night but the taps keep dripping. What a strange season. 3/16 tubing had 17 inches of vacuum today, seasons best. Go figure.

Had another 32 gallons of sap today. Boiled it down and with the freeze coming I am draining the pan and finishing and bottling everything I have. I will get everything washed and cleaned and ready for the next run which looks to be at least a week away. Still can't believe they ran for 5 days without a freeze!

Back to boiling today. Sap was running very well and the new 3/16 lines have been pulling 15 inches of vacuum the last few runs and as high as 17.:D

Looks like a good season for you. That 3/16ths has caught my eye!

Finished and bottled the last run today and the grade moved back up to Amber. Weather man has changed the forecasted lows. Not looking as good now as it did a few days ago. Might be the last run coming up. Hope not.
