Hey folks another tubing install question. What is the best way to attach vacum gauge to 3/16 tubing?? Getting excited to run some tubing on my steep hill this weekend. This game is addicting.

If I remember correctly I put a 1/4" air compressor nipple on the gauge and then used an adapter to go from 3/16 to 5/16 tubing and heated the 5/16. Once it was soft it went over the nipple then I used a regular hose clamp to tighten it.

1/4" NPT to 3/16 barb adapter, plus teflon on the threads. the less adapters the better, less potential leaks.

Thanks , Im trying to adapt a gauge I use for auto mobile engine testing. Should it go at the top of the line or bottom of hill??

At the top end of the line. If it went at the bottom it could freeze with sap in it.

I have the same style gauge and I just put a T in at the top tree and adapted it in. However, someone on here mentioned pulling a tap from your top tree and pushing the rubber hose from the gauge on to the tap. I guess you would have to wait a few minutes for the sap column to build back up but it seems like it could work. It gives you the ability to checkmultiple lines without installing a gauge on each one

the gauges are cheap, $7-8 ea... i splurged for 6 of them. easier than messing with plugs and moving a gauge.
