I started tapping this afternoon just south of ludington. Saw a few other guys had some buckets and lines out but haven't seen any steam yet!

I have 64 taps in now all right on the mason oceans county line. The ones from yesterday were almost half full. Going to tap a few soft maples for the first time this year tommorow. Then to get tanks in the trucks things are looking good

My dad reports getting 13 gallons of sap todayoff the 8 taps we put in on Sunday. It's probably low sugar contact but he is already boiling it.

If you get a chance, post what the sugar content is of the sap you are gathering.

I need to take my refractometer over to my dad's so I can check his sap. He only wants to make a gallon of syrup but if he is only getting 1.1 or 1.2 percent sap he will be boiling 70-75 gallons.

We making steam now forgot to grab my new sap hydrometer so I will have to check it tommorow but at 24 degrees it didn't freeze in the tank

15469 Hard to see from this picture but most of the sap I checked from taps I put out yesterday was just a tad over 1.5%! It's a good start but hoping for 2%+ when the flows really kick in.

Thanks for the report on the sugar content. I am sure it will go up as the trees get thawed out more. Good luck with your season.

Had another good run today buckets were running over by 1 o'clock. I will be boiling all nite since a tank sprouted a small leak sugar content staying about 2.8 to 3 so far

Tapped my last 3/16" sapline for the year today. Now have 5 natural gravity saplines with a total of 58 taps. All lines are flowing. Time to get the eEvaporators plugged in and roiling. Never expected to be getting sap so soon.

I tapped in Hersey on Friday. I got 90 gallons of 2.5% over the weekend. Pretty slow (30 taps). Boiled off already.
