Old bucket tap scar, new wound is probably 3/16 diameter and 1/8 deep. 3rd one I found in 12 tree Grove,???

The split on top and bottom of the hole would indicate a tap hole. I agree.

The tap hole is over 5 years old, when we stopped using buckets. Whats the small hole inside or next to the old 7/16 tap hole that has healed?

Looks to me like it drank 5 to many sap shots. I have a lot of woodpeckers in my backyard and never seen any make a hole like that. I would guess a bug of some sort.
Looks like a sapsucker hole. Usually they will create several holes in a horizontal line. They actually girdled and killed a 10" red maple of mine.

I was going to say the same as Heus, that looks like a sap sucker hole. It likely sensed the swelling under the old tap mark and nailed it for sap. Watch for lines horizontal around the trees, If you find them they are sap suckers. If not it could be a downy or red head woodpecker, not as likely but they do occasionally get one.
