ive never experienced full solid frozen buckets. i cannot break free the solid chunk of ice. weather shows that a run is coming sunday or monday. i will loose all the new sap as it starts to flow. Im assuming it is what it is and just go with te flow...uugh. thats not funny. I have 60 5 gallon pails i could go and put those in place of the frozen buckets. alot of work. oh well. Mother Nature wins.

Mother Nature always wins!
In hind site gathering them might have been the thing to do. (sometimes easier said than done!) I think all of us have had some frozen buckets or sap frozen in gathering containers at some point.
As the temp warms and sap starts to drip around the ice chunk it may loosen it enough that you can get it out. If I had a dollar for every ice chunk I dumped I could probably by a nice filter press or more.
Have fun!
Regards,
Chris

Get some lids on them! You don't need to be boiling rain or snow!
Keep hitting at it!

Chris

I drilled a small hole in lip of lid and attached a small bungee and hooked it straight down on bottom rim of bucket. Holds my lids down great.

so here are a few pics of tbe sap I collected.from my frozen solid buckets. i let them hang and when we got a sap run and it warmed up, i collected buckets. there was half a bucket of ice i tossed the ice and emptied the concentrate .
buckets show fresh sap in one bucket. and the others are the concentrate. ive got 45 gallons of SWEET sap.
