I've read some old threads about using a thermostat switch to turn a Shurflo pump on and off, and I'm planning to set up a similar system this year. But several posts talked about hooking up the thermostat to, at the same time, turn the pump off, and a small lightbulb on in order to keep things from freezing. Can anyone explain to this non-EE, how to do that with an stc-1000, or do I need two thermostat switches?
Thanks

I'm used a relay. With normally open and normally closed contacts. After I built these someone on here posted a temp switch with plugs built right to it to do the same thing. I think it's was less than 20 bucks. Try and Google it.

I haven't received my STC-1000 yet, but I think I figured it out. If my understanding is now correct, the STC-1000 has two separate switches, one for "heat" and one for "cool." You wire the Shurflo pump to the "cool" side, so the switch goes "on" when the temp rises ABOVE the desired temp 9say 34 degrees), and then wire the lightbulb to the "heat" switch to go "on" when the temp falls BELOW. I was making it too difficult for myself!! Typical.

I went the relay route on my first setup but then found this. It made is so much easier and cleaner.
I used an old computer power supply to go from ac to dc with enough amps.
