Grading Question?

What's normal practice grading in artifical lighting or sunlight!??

I now grade using a Hanna checker which has it's own light. When using a temporary grading kit you are supposed to hold it up to a bright sky but not directly at the sun.

Ok thanks mapleflats, using the temporary kit we are getting some descrpisy on grading, looking at kit against fluorescent t-5 bulbs in shack and looking outside, two different grades, just want to make sure doing this right with new grading scale

You're supposed to use northern daylight as the light source when you don't have back lighting.
