Anyone hot pack in plastic? If so where do get your containers? Are they reusable from year to year? I know stainless barrels are ideal just not to that point yet. Any knowledge or comments are appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

I hot pack into 5 gallon jugs every season, I wash after use and reuse the next year. I get my containers from my local maple equipment dealer ,they stack great and I haven't had an issue with mold . I'm changing over to stainless kegs , but the cost of them makes it a slow transition.

I hot pack in 5 gallon plastic jugs that I get from the maple dealers. I heat the syrup to almost boiling then run it through my filter press into the 5 gallon jugs. When using used jugs make sure that they are clean and put a new cap on if the original has any signs of mold on it. Some of my jugs are pretty old, one of them has been around since 1999 and I don't have any spoilage issues storing them in the sugar house.

We use square 5 gallon honey jugs then put them in a chest freezer.
