Had a slow run today 50 Gal of clear 2% from 139 taps. Weather looks great for this coming week.

Talk about slow I have been lucky to get 75 gallons from almost 300 taps. I am hoping the forcast after the middle of this week will be right for just once this season.

It's been a slower year here, too.`Even with near perfect temps, I'm only getting 3/4 gallon/tap. Some days, half of that. We gets what we gets, and that's what we'll have.

An East wind will do that. An old saying "Wind from the East sap will be the least. Wind from the West sap will be the best".

... and sometimes it runs the best when you least expect it too. Not part of the old saying, but the truth.

Fred, I hope your right or I may be done. Sap actually ran better for me earlier this week when we had lows in 40's and highs near 60. Now, with good weather the past few days, sap flow has been light down to almost non-existant today. Without vacuum, I would have no run today. As it is, it's just kind of dribbling/bubbling into the releaser.

Really wanted to make it to the cool down coming, but not looking good for me. I just may shut everything down today and clean out the evaporator after I boil and see what happens during/after the cool down.

We also need a storm to help put some moisture back in the trees, as not all the moisture comes from the ground

WE had an exceptionally good gather yesterday. Quite a bit over a gallon/tap. Pretty clear, too. Went from Grade B to dark amber.

Normally, I hold the sap overnight and start boiling ealy the next day, but some commitments for today kept me boiling past midnight to get it all processed. Got 'er done, cooled off and in bed by 1AM.
