Glad I got my taps put in last weekend. I tied my record day run yesterday with nearly 2 gallons per tap and 2.2% sugar on buckets and gravity! Now just need time to get it all boiled(vacation day)...

180 gal on 36 taps so far this year in Summit County. Looks like the sap started to flow again this week have about 30-40 gal sitting in bags right now to collect tonight.

I finished pulling my taps this weekend. We ended up with a good year averaging .28 gallons per tap(just under 70 gallons of syrup. It was almost all amber this year, only one batch of dark syrup. I am contemplating an RO next year to reduce boiling time. I am not sure if it is worth the extra work and issues without heat and electric...

It would be money well spent, Ray Gingerich has a lot of affordable units, electric and gas powered. Before I upgraded my power in the Sugarhouse, I ran my RO from my garage.

Agreed. I went through 1/3 of the wood that I would go through normally. Time is a great commodity. I don't even have to think about firing up the evaporator until I have 400+ gallons of raw sap which would allow me to boil for 4+ hours with the ro on my 2x6. . That would normally take me about 11 hours without. 👌
