I wanted to thank everyone again for all the help. My evaporator worked great and we made just over 25 gallons of syrup!!!

Now that it looks like its over I have a few wrap up questions for everyone.

1) Anything special I need to do to store the tin flue pan?

2) Same goes for the feed tank and storage barrels (I'm worried they'll get moldy)

3) My new stack base and stove pipe looks terrrible, I'm taking it down and was wondering if I should stove black it or something?? Any suggestions?

For those of you with some season left good luck and for those of us with clean up- take it from me clean it now because it will only get worse for next season!

I wolud clean the pans and tanks up really good let them air dry and cover them up or turn them upside down to keep the critters out.then next season when you set up all you should have to do is rinse with water to get rid of any thing that may have gotten in their like dust

If your stack was galvenized then I'd say go a head and paint the stack atleast it will keep it from rusting out as fast. The paint will burn off next year but thats not a problem. If it is stainless and it is discolored there is nothing to worry about.

Yes plug off the front pan from the back pan this will keep the syrup to the same density that you finished with the day before. I don't usually take the plug out until the evaporator is boiling on start up either as this will stop it from mixing so much in the front pan and your drawoff will come quicker
