Question on tapping, yesterday I put a new tap in what I thought was a new tree that I had never tapped after putting in the tap realized I had tapped the new tap only 2" away from a old tap last year , not sure how I didn't see it , but wanted to know the ramifications of my screw up

If you hit white wood you'll be ok. If it was all stained you could probably get away with tapping it again.

More information needed. Are you on gravity or vacuum? The new taphole is 2" away from the old one, but is it above or below, or off to one side? Did you see any brown (stained) wood when you tapped it?
