I tapped a maple in the yard a few days ago and it's been producing well. But yesterday temps did not rise above freezing and aren't expect to until sunday. When I collect the sap yesterday I noticed a trail of frozen sap from the spile down the side of the tree. I'm using the standard plastic 90 degree 5/16 tree taps with poly tubing. Obviously sap has leaked out from around the spile and froze. How do I handle this situation? I guess I shouldn't expect much sap until the day temps get above freezing, so do I have to do anything to the taps? Will they crack if they freeze? Or do I just keep sitting here waiting to see how much sap I get?

A tap will weep a little while after you put it in, but most likely t is an out of round hole. You could wait till it warms up a bit and give it a light tap to reseat it. Don't over do it or you'll split the tree.
I wouldn't sweat it too much though. You'll still get plenty of sap from it.
