Last year we made syrup on a turkey fryer but are moving up this year. My son and I have made an oil tank arch and have a new shiny stainless pan. Is there something we should do to season the bottom of the pan that is in contact with the fire?
Thanks John

I use liquid soap, I spread the bottom of my pan and sides that make contact with the flame with a thick layer then when iam finish I scrape off the black soot with a plastic scraper works great for me

While a coating of soap helps with clean-up later, even that layer slows the boil, your choice.
Most do nothing except keep the inside clean and the bottom pretty clean.

The only thing I did to my pans was pressure wash them at the end of the season.
