Hey-
I made my own evaporator last year for my first solo sugaring adventure. I used a discarded (free) two drawer file cabinet, used stainless steel buffet pans, and free ceramic wool cut off ends.
The key is to only use ceramic wool and protect it from the wood by cutting expanded steel to fit as protective panels and also as the fire grate. I sealed everything with hi temp caulk--every hole, seam, screw, etc. Very efficient evaporator.
I made it over the course of a month with a dremel, drill, grinder, and some hi temp paint. I boiled 69 gallons last year over 4 days and loved every second of it. Take a look at the pics and ask any questions you want.
Thanks1525915260152701526815269
