I have been reading and pondering about investing in a RO machine. I think I have talked my dad into the investment and was wondering what do 2 rookies need to know about running one. We have a 2x6 drop flue evaporator and planning 250 taps all on buckets. Tips and suggestions? Are they easy to run and clean? What kind of learning curve is there to operate one. Thanks for any input.

Mille First good job getting dad on board. First whatever company you get it from make sure they have tech support and repair parts. Buying a unit that someone built in their garage and sell cheap but tell you to call your local maple supplier for help doesn't work well. Most Ro's are a conglomeration of individual parts that are from different manufactures. So when you go shopping for a unit ask a lot of questions about maintenance. Your budget will be your guide so shop wisly.

Im a blithering idiot when it comes to my rig so I run it the same way every time and it hasn't failed me yet. I would spend the money for one that has a few bells and whistles. Your time is important and at the end of the day its nice to set the machine to clean and go to bed.

Watch a few manufacture youtube videos and get a basic understanding of how they work. Your a lucky young man I say that because I had to wait 27 years to get mine and had to pay for it. It will pay for itself.
