I'm trying the antimicrobial Adapters for the first time this year. I'm wondering if they will work with the leader stubby spouts or if there is a better stubby for them. I'm also wondering what other people think of them.
Thanks for any information on them.

I've been using them for years and they have worked well for me keeping the sap flowing into April. I usually tap in January, I have around 800 out now with another 1,300 to put in next week. Pretty sure they work with leader stubbies.

I think the research (mostly out of Cornell) has shown that antimicrobial silver spouts work reasonably well, at least the first year, with efficacy dropping off over time. As long as you intend to swap them out every few years (or even annually) according to the manufacturers recommendations, they should do well. The price has come down considerably since they were first introduced, making them a more realistic option (from a net profit standpoint).
However, if you are an organic producer, antimicrobial spouts are generally NOT allowed. The issue is not with the silver, but with the nano-technology involved.
