I have a Delaval vacuum pump that was given to me. I'm in the process of getting it ready to use. My problem is the ID plate is gone so I don't know which model it is. The case has a 10" inside diameter and it is 8" long without the end plates. Can anyone out there help me identify which model it is?
Thanks

Pictures??? It would either be a 76 or a 78 this picture shows a 76 that we have. 15145
2nd on the pictures. Could be 76, 77, or 78 pump. Are the vanes free and is the inside of it smooth and not scored?

I'll take some pics but it looks similar to the one in your photo except the oil lines to the bearings are cast into the end plate also it's disassembled. The inside of the case was wavy and a little rusty. I bored it out about .010 to clean it up. One of the vanes was stuck but they don't look bad which raises another question. Can I flip the vanes over to get a fresh edge once I get done honing the case?

Jetdoc I had that very pump and it was great right up the point that one of the plastic oil lines on the bronze bearing side got hot and melted and granaded the bearing, shaft and then drum. I was in the woods working and wondered what the increasing whining noise was. Didnt have the hard pipe off the pump.

Haynes, we had that problem also. We went to the hardware and put one stand off pipe on both sides of the pump so the tubing would not touch it any more. Works great now.:)

Here are some photos of my pump still in pieces. Once it's honed to an acceptable finish I'll put back together. If I can figure out the model and other details make a decision on how to power it either by gas or electric. But I don't know what I need for hp or rpm.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170124/7c354188875405b6b021720fe3ce62c1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170124/1fd526e631e21db66ef8e903aac17780.jpg

When you do put it back together take a good flat bastard to the side plates and barrel ends.Just a nice light trip around to identify any dings and high spots.
Make sure the end plates are smooth if not have them machined flat. Clean the drum up and make sure the vanes slide in and out freely. Unless it is really good, replace the seal because it will leak vacuum causing the pump to not suck enough oil in.

It looks like it may be a 78. Here is helpful info for electric motor size, cfm, pulley size. What size is your intake and exhaust? I would definitely put a triple oil dripper system on it to help keep it cool. Also a oil reclaimer is a must. Hope this helps you out.

Ok everyone, thanks for the help. Pump is back together with new bearings and shaft seal.
Now I need to find a double pulley for the motor . I hope to use a 4" but the double belt is different (smaller) than a standard v-belt. Anyone have any leads on where to find one? Apparently DeLaval doesn't stock them as I can't find a listing for One on their website. Local vacuum pump repairman doesn't have one either.
Thanks

Do you have a local store that sells and/or repairs electric motors? I was able to order mine that way - I believe they refer to them as 3VX pulley's but if I'm wrong they will know what you mean - get the shaft diameter too.
Have you tried a DeLaval dealer? There is one in western MA and one in Franklin, CT according to the DeLaval website. The other place I know that might have what you is
Choice Industrial Solutions Inc in Keene, NH there phone number is 1-800-229-5910. They deal with a lot parts and I know they have a lot of industrial belts and pulleys.
Another place to check out is E-Zee Milking Equipment. They don't sell direct but call them and they can tell you who can buy from. They have the pulley listed in the catalog on page 111.

I finished my pump setup with a reclaimer and moisture trap. I added a homemade oil cooler that I fabricated out of a air conditioner condenser and fan. The whole thing is mounted on a steel frame with wood skids so I can move it with a set of forks. Here's a pic. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170618/4184e8f19ee879aa128e73d88b0b3ad9.jpg

I bought my double pulleys with replaceable centers from John deere. I used Blackmount in North Haverhill NH.
Call Choice Industrial Solutions in Keene, NH. 603-352-5910. They should be able to help you out. They can get all kinds of supplies.

looks good
I'd get rid of the plastic oil lines and go with brake lines. At least near the pump. Plastic won't take the heat
I know from experience

Yes, definitely want to replace the plastic lines. They will melt off and you will be rebuilding your pump before 20 hours of use. I use to use the flexible copper with compression fittings available at most hardware stores.

Thanks for the advise on the plastic lines. I'll convert them before I fire it up. Sounds like it's going to make a lot of heat.
I'm moving my sap tanks next to the sugarhouse so I was going to build a dog house for the vacuum pump about 40 feet away so I don't have to listen to it. I feel a sugarhouse should be a peaceful place. Anyway, I was looking for thoughts on putting in an underground vac line from the pump to the tanks. Any thoughts??

This project is complete.
I changed out the oil lines on the pump with copper as suggested. Left one as plastic that comes off the reclaimer as I like to see that the oil is moving and that doesn't appear to get warm at all. Built a hut for it and ran power and vacuum lines underground. Vacuum line is 1 1/2" schedule 40 PVC. Fired it up and it runs great. It is a little noisy like an air compressor until it starts to pull a vacuum then it gets nice and quiet. Just deadheading the pump it is making about 28". Hooked it up to my releaser and sap lines and it was doing 23" at the releaser. Probably next to nothing in the woods as I know I have leaks and unplugged taps. The pump does get hot but that is all so I'm excited to see what this sugar season brings.16618 16618
