So I have a collection tank that is 1.5 spools of mainline down the hill from the sugarhouse, its 1in line strung on wire, with about a 300ft elevation gain back to the SH. I had been planning on using a 2in gas pump but everyone has cast doubt on this working or working fast enough. A well pump with a generator is what's been suggested. So what kind of well pump? Specs? etc.
Thanks

I pump 150 up and 1800 feet with a half horse. I get 5 gallons a minute

submersible well pump. make sure the pump will overcome the 300 feet of head plus the head created by pipe friction and any connectors etc in the line. There would be much less pipe friction using a larger diameter pipe. Pump manufacturer can give you specs on feet of head and volume pumped.

And depending upon the length of the spools of mainline you are using, it may make better sense to run wire down to the pump instead of using a generator. Assuming you have power at sugarhouse of course.

Okay hit it with the GPS this morning, big difference. Elevation gain is only 70ft. Feels like more and the total length is 1500 ft.

In your original post the elevation seemed to be a very steep slope. I am pumping about 725' run with a 70' rise. I am using a gas powered Honda pump (WH15). Using pump select on the Honda website I looked at a lot of pump/line combinations for my run/rise setup. The 1.5" pump with 1.5" line was supposed to deliver about 26 gallons a minute, the best combination. In 9:30 minutes of running once the pump starts responding to the load (seconds) I have a sap level <2" below the edge of a 260 gallon tank....pretty darn close to the manufactures specs. At 10 minutes it is overflowing now I reduced the run from 750' to about 725'. I re-routed the line for a better slop and have it separate from the mainline (stupid inexperienced move). Good luck

Okay still haven't got the local well guy out yet. So gas pumps. Im looking at them again. Will a pacer style 2in 200gpm pump work like this?

says 126ft head

Or a 2in honda

Or am I better off with the well pump + generator idea.

I've got a pump similar to the Honda pump. It is a tractor supply knock off called a Red Lion. I'm using 1 1/4" pipe and should have used 2". It works but is slow. My elevation change is about 30' I think and I'm pumping it 1500'. You will have to plan on what to do with sap that fills the pipe. Mine holds about 110 gallons. The slowest part of the pumping operation is draining the pipe back to my gathering tank. You don't want to leave the pipe full.
