Any tips or tricks on keeping squirrels from chewing your lines? I walked my new 3/16's lines today and the squirrels had chewed right through it in multiple spots. Does red flagging or something work? Just wondering, thanks.

Any tips or tricks on keeping squirrels from chewing your lines?

This is probably the best deterrent.

Agreed but I can't always be out there to shoot them. Wondering if their is anything else to help?

Do you wash your lines? If did you use chlorine? The salt in chlorine attracts squirrels.

No I didn't wash them. The lines are new and I just hung them about a month ago.

There are other ways but some people dont like them. Now one simple way is a rat trap screwed to the trunk of the tree and a little bait.

Last year we had a big problem with tree rats, they mainly went after the spouts, chewing them right off. Read somewhere to mix red hot sauce with Vaseline by heating it up in the microwave. I dabbed a little on every spout in that area, it worked, they all left and went to another section. Went back to shooting them.

I have had every issue with squirrels possible. I got a few squirrel chews when I put up tubing new. I really thing this was because the squirrels got pissed off over the tubing being in the woods especially with the tubing running along the side of a tree. Once u get some sap in them it's only gonna get worse. Squirrels are tubing and fitting manufacturers best friend if u asks me

wear rubber gloves when working with tubing. the salt and oil from your skin will atract them also.

I do commercial Christmas light installation and squirrels like chewing thru the wires and I just think they like the feel of chewing plastic/poly and having salt and other enticing chemicals gives them hope its worth chewing deeper.

If you have a local cub scout troop you could get rid of the squirrels and help them get their marksmen badge as the same time (and maybe sell some syrup to the parents).

Chocolate baking chips take care of them too as they can't pass chocolate.
