What size evaporator? If not ro. I would gamble on 8-10

I have a 2x6 and like to have 3 cord for 200 taps when I first started that was on gravity tubing

We make 30 gallons of syrup off 375 taps with no ro. Use 3-4 cord. I'd have at least 6 cord up and ready.

We have a 2x8 drop flue and 350 taps. We average 6 to 7 cord a season. It depends on how well the season holds out. You using AOF/AUF? that will make a difference also.

Eight cord, split and dry, should make the 150 to 200 gallon of syrup. Assuming good running hard maples at 2% + sap. Also assuming that you gather all the sap and boil it all. Also assumes that you have a very good tight vacuum system. Plan on some 24 hour boils too. Good luck.

The old rule of thumb for wood was 1 full cord for each 25 gal of syrup minimum. The wood should be split wrist size and well dried. With 400 taps on vacuum you could make 200 gal in a good year, or more. I suggest either 10 cords or have a buyer lined up to buy your excess during times of heavy sap flow.
2x6 evaporators can boil from 25-70 gal/hr, depending on several factors.

That seems like a lot of wood for 30 gallons.

Thanks everyone. I have about 6 already but I'm gonna get another 4. Thinking about adding an Auf, is it worth the $$

Yes it is. It does not need to be very expensive. A squirrel cage blower that will make a big difference can be had for less than $100 on eBay. If you have an old oil burner kicking around you can use that, just remove the ignition parts.
