Hi guys. I have a homade flat bottom continuous flow 2x8 pan. It works good other than the dividers arent welded all the way against the wall on the opposite side of the hole and there's small gaps. I used it last year and i was getting a lot of mixing in the channels. The bottom is only tac welded also but it's bent to a 90 and sits very tight, even after a season. Should there be zero mixing or is some ok? Is there an easy way to temporarily fix this as I'm not a welder? Thanks guys

There may not be a easy way to fix it. But I would agree that the partitions should be attached with no gaps to eliminate mixing. Is it the end of the world? NO! it just means your making one big batch of syrup through out the pan. It will eventually make syrup and you will just have to watch the size of the batch.
Fixing the issue would be to have the seam welded or soldered with lead free solder. I can tell you from experience that it is hard to get these joints cleaned up after syrup have been made in the pan.
Good luck.

Chris

How hard would it be to fill with solder? I've never soldered stainless.

Silver solder is a little challenging but with patience you can do it. Any Amish tin workers by you?
