Been tapping for about 3 years now so still new to this and winters have been somewhat mild last couple years. Weather right now seems perfect so thinking of tapping next week. Too soon...?.

I just heard of an experienced guy in Mass. who's tapped some of his trees and is getting sap. I think you're on your own in RI. as far as when the best time is. Like the rest of us, you'll know for sure when the seasons over.:)

I start tapping next week, to be finished by 1/20 is my goal. I'm also changing some more 5/16 to 3/16 where I ran out of 3/16 last year. After that in one woods I'll be about 30% 5/16 and 70% 3/16, my second woods will be all 5/16 (no hills)
