new to high vac

So after years of running gravity lines and buckets, I made the upgrade to a high vac system for this upcoming season. I will now have all my taps running right to my sugarhouse! My question is when to tap. With gravity I would just watch the weather and tap just before or during the first run. But I know many of the vac guys would tap much earlier. What are you looking for, when do you tap? Thanks in advance.

In my opinion there isn't really any one answer. For me it depends on how many taps you have and how much help you have. I wouldn't approach it any differently than if you were still on gravity. I have also heard more than one producer who tapped early say that they didn't really think they produced more by catching the early runs.
