My dad was cleaning out his cellar in Chesterfield and found a dusty old gallon jug of maple syrup (full) that my cousin and I made years ago. Last time we ran our operation together was 1980 - almost 37 years ago! I haven't opened it yet - any guesses as to what it will look like? Moldy? Does sugar break down over time? It feel liquidy inside so it hasn't solidified, or ballooned the plastic Bacon jug at all. Who wants to come over for some pancakes!! :o

If it was finished to the proper brix then I would expect it to be good, if there is mold I would skim it off and re heat. Could probably sell it as collector syrup

I found a bottle of syrup in my dads cellar that i made when i was eight. We opened it on our 50th anniversary. It was still good. No mold or sediment! Kind of dark and smoky flavored. Tasted just like an eight year old would make on a flat pan, out doors
