AUF blower positioning

I'm doing my first oil tank build this winter and am curious to hear where you position your AUF blower. I was planning to build an ash tray under the firebox grate but I'' not sure how this would fit with a blower. Do you put the blower off to the side so it's blowing up at an angle or do you just have a hole in the bottom and scrape the ashes out when they need it?

Attach the blower to the back of the arch in the ash box. As long as the door to the ash box is sealed good the air will blow up through the grates. I was really surprised last year when I added a blower how little ash there was. I only cleaned them out once. Make sure your firebox door has a good seal also. You dont want sparks and flames in your face. Or blowing around in the shack

I have AUF and have never cleaned ash out of my arch. I burn pallets, so I have cleaned lots of nails.

Same here , in the last three years I have not had enough ash to fill my pockets. I do find quite a bit in the flues just before the base stack. On my arch rebuild this year I'm adding an access door to the base stack so I can clean this without raising the pans. Jeff
