Constructed a new arch for my new pan set. Crunch was on for time so I enlisted the help of a coupler welder friends. Lightest steel plate used was 5/16" with door front, arch top and firebox made of 3/8". Lined with full firebricks and refractory mortar. this season I am going to sandwich 1" Ceramic finer blanket on the outside with Aluminum Diamondplate shields as it was a causualty of deadline last season. 6" inline fan with pressurized bulkhead delivering AOF from some 30 3/8" pipe nipples in the firebox. 10" Stainless Stack 22ga 20' high. Stack temps averaged 1000 - 1200 degrees at 18" above the arch. Last but not least I put in a Site Glass in the furnace door. I love to see the fire!!

What type of glass did you use in your door? Did you put ceramic blanket under the brick where flue pan sits?

I used glass from an old pellet stove I had. I didn't put ceramic blanket in at all. I did use some on the ceiling of the fire box. My plan this year is to sandwich the ceramic blanket on the sides of the arch with Aluminum Diamond plate panels with the idea of containing more of the heat.
I used an 6" inline fan with a fan speed control, WOW! She really blazes with stack temps easily maintained between 1000 and 1200 degrees.

Nice! That thing looks like it could withstand a direct nuclear hit. :)

Thanks for the compliments! worked well last season but it was short on time and sap. Looking forward to running all ahead full this season!

And it's not a battleship.
Anyway, the sap that ends up trying to do battle with that arch and pan set up is going to lose! Lol.
Nice job on that. Your photos are going to be studied by a lot folks who want to build their own rig.

Did you put anything under your pans where it sits on the steel to stop the smoke from coming out.
Blanket insulation or anything?

Yes, I cut 2" wide strips of Ceramic Blanket insulation and used it for a gasket. Tolerates 2300 degrees and also did a nice job of sealing in the smoke. It also worked like a "crush" gasket as the weight of the flooded pans pretty much levelled themselves.

Thanks
That's what I was thinking to. I will get that done.
