How would a masonary chimney with a clay tile liner work for a evaporator chimney? I keep working on my plans for a 14' x 18' sugar shack to build next summer (2017) and was wondering if a masonary chimney would work. My evaporator has a 8" chimney stack that would need a 90 degree elbow to fit into the masonary thimble. My unit has a AUF blower which would create a forced draft situation. Any thoughts?

I've never seen any evaporator connected to a masonry chimney.

Flue tile are not rated for the temperatures that evaporators run at. I would not flirt with disaster by trying it. Also way cheaper to go with metal. And easier to replace or upgrade if need be.

Ok, that answers my question. Was not aware that the clay tile liners were not rated for that temp. Thanks, Clay
