Hi everyone,
I just got a new to me 2x6 evaporator. 2 pictures are attached and hopefully I describe what im looking to do properly.

My previous evaporator I had my stove custom made so I was able to stick the back of it out the back of my shack and the smoke stack was outside and no worries about the roof or the heat.

My new one I will be keeping it all contained in the shack with the stack going out through my roof. I used 8" single wall stove pipe for my old unit, but I know that for this I cant use that as I don't know what is needed when I go up through the roof to keep the heat away from the roof or from burning the place down. I don't want to spend a fortune on stainless and triple wall pipes, although I don't really know if that's even required.

Can someone advise what I will need for components to do this?

Picture are the new evaporator with base stack, and my small sugar shack.

Thank you!

Easy fix on the cheap if you are not particular. Just unscrew a sheet or two of your roofing in the area you want it to go through. Take your sawzall or skill saw and cut away particleboard between rafters #1 and #3 or whatever you pick. Looks like you are 2' OC with your rafters so you plenty of room. Box the the hole you just cut back in, ( or a square) Figure on your metal roofing where the stack will now come up through the roof when you put the panel back on and cut the hole for the stove pipe with your snips or whatever. Put your roofing back on, screw ir down, and run your stove pipe up through. Get some high temp silicone or something to seal, done. Yes, there are prettier and more costly alternatives.

Umm...I think your worrying about your stack is a bit premature...if that is your sugar house then you may want to enlarge it a bit first...looks like you will only have about a foot of space to just open the doors to fire it...otherwise seekers idea should work...

It holds a 2 x 6, but it will be getting enlarged starting this weekend LOL I quickly outgrew my original plan for the building.....a little at a time. RO is the next item im getting next month, new real sugar house next season.

Just realized I posted this in the wrong group, sorry about that.

Thank you!
